KD0CGR Gateway alive and kicking

On Saturday June 7 2008, the Omaha KD0CGR D-Star repeater gained a functional gateway, connecting the local repeater successfully with the rest of the D-Star world. Thanks to the help of Lincoln amateurs Carl Morones (N0CRL) and Myron Coleman (KC0TMO), and D-Star Trust gateway administrator Jim McClellan (N5MIJ), the gateway was successfully linked up with the network and configured for the short term to bridge communications between the Omaha and Lincoln nodes.

With the gateway activation, Omaha D-Star amateur radio operators should be able to communicate with participants on D-Star nodes globally, as well as users of DVDongle equipment. Additionally, digital communications using the D-Star VHF “C” repeater capabilities should also now be possible.

To get started on using gateway capabilities, please register your callsign. Note: This link uses an internally generated web certificate. Your browser may alert you to this status as it may not recognize the certificate authority. This is normal and you should accept the certificate temporarily for this registration.

Your registration may take several days to be activated, after which you may use the gateway features on the KD0CGR repeater.

Good work! I’ve added the registration link to the repeater page, also. You must be posting this at the same time I’m working, as the link changed when I went back to copy it :)

Indeed the link changed… https is very important to have in the URL which I didn’t have in there at first.

How will I know when my call sign is added to the list for gateway access?

You will get an E-mail from one of the gateway administrators.

Anyone in this group know what the status is with the KD0CGR D-Star repeater? Those in Lincoln can apparently hear us but but we can’t hear Lincoln….

I have a dvdongle that I am having a problem with. I can hear qso’s when I am connected to a reflector but the TX is grayed out so I am not able to transmit. I have insured that I am connected to a module and not the * which will only permit listening. Everyone on the forum is suggesting a registration issue. Here is one with the most info.

    Any help would be great…Thanks

Re: [DVDongle] PTT Grayed Out/Unable To TX

Ooops. I see I typo’d his callsign.. from his email address.. it is ‘N0MEQ”. I
see that callsign is registered on two different systems (KD0CGR and W0MAO), but
has not created a terminal on either system.

First of all, you should not register on more than one system. Once your
registration request is approved on a system, there is another step to the
registration process. You have to log back into the system and create a
‘terminal’. This is explained on the website that someone gave the link for
    earlier- http://www.dstargateway.org/D-Star_Registration.html -beginning at
    step 8.

You should contact the admin of one of those two systems and have them delete
your registration on that system, leaving you registered on only one of them.
